Quiet…

I am not an extrovert.  I am an introvert.  I like to be alone.  I don’t want to be bothered with lots of noise and busyness.  I like to have a schedule and follow it and keep the order in the time and way I like.  Yes, I  know I am a bit of aContinue reading “Quiet…”

Winters in the Past…

I have lived with many types of winter.  Each one is wonderful in itself, but my favorites have been the ones with snow and ice and gray skies.  I miss those winters. Growing up in northwestern Pennsylvania, we had good winters.  Sometimes they would arrive early and stay late.  I can remember wearing winter coatsContinue reading “Winters in the Past…”

A Feeling of Nostalgia…

Winter is a time of the playoff games.  I don’t mind football, and I will follow my team.  I do love the playoff games though.  I like the excitement and the noise. Hubby will sit and watch all the playoff games.  I will sit with hubby, usually occupying myself with my laptop or a book. Continue reading “A Feeling of Nostalgia…”

Lyrics…

Each year I hear Karen Carpenter’s song, “Merry Christmas, Darling”.  I love that song.  It makes me cry.  Of course, many Christmas songs bring tears to my eyes, I’m just like that. Houses for Hospitals…

We determined that we would make certain to keep them occupied during the Christmas season to let then not feel likeContinue reading “Houses for Hospitals…”

The Violin….

Both of our girls took music lessons when they were young.  Our oldest took piano lessons from a woman in our church.  She took them for about a year and then she stopped.  I can’t remember why exactly, but I know there was no drama when the lessons ended.  Our youngest was given a second-handContinue reading “The Violin….”

Not a Creature was stirring…

It is the quiet of the evening after a day of Thanksgiving.  The house is silent except for the ticking of the clock in the dining room and the rumble of the train on the tracks a mile or so from the house. I sit here wanting to get up and start to put awayContinue reading “Not a Creature was stirring…”

10 years ago… 31 Days of Observing…

31 Days Observing I still receive emails from a news station in San Diego.  I do this partly to keep informed of what is going on in the city I called home for 27 years and partly because our oldest still lives there and I want to be able to talk with her about herContinue reading “10 years ago… 31 Days of Observing…”

On Missing a Way of Life… 31 Days of Observing…

31 Days Observing   This morning I spent some time reading posts on my Reader section.   There was a post from Adopting James titled “We Know Jack”  (http://adoptingjames.wordpress.com/2013/10/18/we-know-jack/). It was about the movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas”  (Tim Burton’s 1993 movie).   It was a great post to read, but what it did was transport me to Disneyland. Continue reading “On Missing a Way of Life… 31 Days of Observing…”
