Whew!!! What a week it was…

This week has both flown by and dragged on.  I know that technically it was the same amount of time as usual, but some days I have felt like they would never end and others it was midnight immediately after putting my feet on the floor. I have done spring cleaning this week.  Not onContinue reading “Whew!!! What a week it was…”

grumpy has left the building…

Yesterday I wrote about being grumpy.  I always hesitate to write about moods like these.  It is like shining a beacon on myself, begging to be looked at and either coddled or encouraged. Yes, I know when moods like these hit, you sometimes need to be encouraged, coddled, or sometimes you just need a goodContinue reading “grumpy has left the building…”

Reflections and memories…

The week before Christmas and New Year’s always brings a flood of reflection.  Each year, I sit and think about the past year.  I then think about the coming year.  I know most people do the same thing.  It’s good, I think, to remember where you were a year ago and what all has happened.Continue reading “Reflections and memories…”

Treasures…

This morning as hubby was reading the Christmas story from the book of Luke, I heard a phrase that I have often heard, but, for some reason it stood out today. The phrase is, “but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.”  (Luke 2:19, New Living Translation). Mary treasuredContinue reading “Treasures…”

Houses for Hospitals…

One Christmas just a few years ago, our dear friends were living for a short time in San Diego.  Their children were living in D.C. and they could not join their folks for Christmas. We determined that we would make certain to keep them occupied during the Christmas season to let then not feel likeContinue reading “Houses for Hospitals…”

The Violin….

Both of our girls took music lessons when they were young.  Our oldest took piano lessons from a woman in our church.  She took them for about a year and then she stopped.  I can’t remember why exactly, but I know there was no drama when the lessons ended.  Our youngest was given a second-handContinue reading “The Violin….”

I Interrupt this Christmas series….

Today was Thanksgiving.  It was a delicious day in food, and family. Our oldest is here for a few days for the holiday.  She made dinner for hubby and I.  It was wonderful.  She is an excellent chef and she fixed many dishes that were great, that it was difficult to decide what was myContinue reading “I Interrupt this Christmas series….”

I love technology….

Yesterday was hubby’s birthday.  It was a good day, we went to a matinée, exchanged a shirt that was the wrong size and went to dinner at our favorite little Italian place.  We came home, and poor hubby laughed while I sang happy birthday to him.  He blew out his candles (only 1/10 of what shouldContinue reading “I love technology….”

A dose of sunshine… 31 Days of Observing

31 Days Observing  I woke up this morning with the usual list running in my mind.  Need to get up, walk the dog, clean the kitchen, bake for tomorrow, figure out dinner tonight and get into a better mood. Started to check off my list, dog fed, dog walked, smiled to neighbors, get online, checkContinue reading “A dose of sunshine… 31 Days of Observing”

Little Man Henceforth…

Last week while preparing myself mentally for leaving Little Man, I started looking at him.  His hair is just starting to grow in.  It is light and he looks bald most of the time.  You can feel the fine hairs on his little noggin, and they are fun to ruffle or brush your cheek on. Continue reading “Little Man Henceforth…”
