Last week in the middle of unpacking and feeling overwhelmed and a bit under appreciated, I turned to Facebook for some uplifting. That day my Facebook page was not that exciting. No new pictures of my grandson, no funny jokes, no scriptures that fed my spirit. Nothing, just the usual complaints and comments. I checked my email. There in the lists of ads for stores I never visit was a message to approve a comment.
This struck me as strange, as I had not been on my blog for a while, it seemed like years. At first, I thought it would be a message that due to lack of use they were going to close my account… that was just the frame of mind I was in. But, no, it was not that type of message. Instead, it was a message from a gentlemen that had visited my blog and as a courtesy, I visited his. It is a wonderful blog, one that I know I will visit often. He is just starting to blog and his posts are worth the visit. I urge you, JT, to continue in your blog, it is going to mean a lot to your family and friends and those of us who stop by and peek into your life.
This message was a very timely message for me. He gave me an award. He said I had encouraged his writing. That blessed me so very much. So, to JT, (who can be found here: http://jtweaverblog.wordpress.com/) thank you. Your timing was spot on!
The award he bestowed upon me is this one:
Now, when you are in scrubby jeans and tee-shirt and feeling like you are all alone with your boxes, an award like this is like a ray of sunshine pouring through your ceiling, there are angelic voices singing and butterflies are floating around you… yes, I may exaggerate a bit, but you get the idea. This little picture made me feel good.
Inspiration is something that I never associate with myself, and sitting in my jeans, tee-shirt and sweaty hair, I was blessed. That break from the boxes was wonderful.
Now, as with any award there are things that need to be done. I figured I had better do this before I go on to hanging pictures and the last set of curtains and forget where I was going with my blog entries.
The rules for receiving this award are:
1. Display the award logo on your blog.
2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
3. State 7 things about yourself.
4. Nominate 15 other bloggers for this award and link to them.
5. Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.
Hmm, this is always a tough one for me, as I am trying to remain anonymous. Seven things about me, without revealing much.
1. I prefer potato chips over chocolate, although I will not refuse chocolate.
2. I am glad I have gotten a reprieve from returning to work (until at least the fall)
3. I am amazed that anyone reads my blog
4. I dream of doing something life changing for others at some point in my life.
5. I would love to have people see the love of Jesus when they meet me (I have a looooong way to go on this one!)
6. I love to plan things, parties, trips, meetings. It is fun to see a plan come together.
7. I wish I could convey in words how much my friends mean to me.
I would love to give this award to the following blogs:
My Men and Me: (http://mymenandme.wordpress.com/) This is one of my favorite blogs. I want to visit her and her home sometime. When she writes about her home you feel like you are right there.
athinggirldotcom: (http://athingirl.com/) Her writing is humorous, sensitive and thought-provoking… I look forward to seeing her posts.
The River Walk: (http://tworiversblog.com/) This daily devotional is great. I always come away encouraged and challenged.
Loren Nancarrow: (http://thenancarrowproject.com/) Now, this one is just because. This is a large site, but having had this news anchor in my home daily via the television, I am partial to his writing. His blog as he battles cancer is one that inspires me. This award is just a way to thank him for his many years of bringing me news and information that has been a part of my life experience.
Belle Grove Plantation Bed and Breakfast: (http://virginiaplantation.wordpress.com/) This woman has guts! She is working hard to fulfill a dream and someday I will go here. This is a fun blog to read.
Elizabeth W. Marshall: (http://wynnegraceappears.com/) Comforting words. This blog has words that are pieces of art, truly. This writer has a gift that makes words artistic. She is a gifted writer who loves our Lord.
Coming East: (http://comingeast.com/) Now, I don’t know if she already has this award, but she is my inspiration. Her comments on my blog have encouraged me. She makes me laugh and cry and I am so glad this writer is in my life.
Life With The Top Down: (http://life-with-the-topdown.com/) I know she already has this award, but the way I see it is, she is so inspiring (and funny, and serious, and fun) that she deserves to be recognized again!
Raising the Curtain: (http://raisingthecurtain.net/) Again, she already has this award, but I figure if you have received it, it is for a reason (especially in her case)…. my blogging hero who takes on challenges and does them so wonderfully…
Now, I know that this is not 15…. I can count that high, but this is my list. I guess number 8 of things about me is ~ I don’t like to follow instructions.
Thanks for stopping by today and for reading all of this, it was a long one and if you have read all the way through this, well you deserve the award also! Appreciate you, DAF
Thank you, dear friend. I’m happy to know you are getting settled, even though the work of it is long and tiring. I would love to visit you sometime, too!
Well deserved, DAF congratulations. A little piece of inspiration amongst all that unpacking. Thank you for the recognition. It is much appreciated.
I appreciate your writing and am grateful for having you in my life.
How the heck did I miss these posts…glad I was checking in on you and bumped into them. How is the new home?
the new home is a work in progress… glad it is a temporary stop, but we are trying to make it feel like home. Need to be a bit more positive about it. Glad you found my posts! Hope you are doing okay. Think of you often.
I just somehow saw this comment. Thank you for stopping by. thinking of you today.
